House projects are something you are going to go through every now and then. From renovating and maintaining your house, to building additions, new floors or other structures, it’s only a matter of time before you will need a contractor. A lot of homeowners who take up one house projects for the very first time think that it all comes down to hiring contracting company and that no further action is required from them. The truth is, even after you hired a contractor, you still need to prepare your premises and yourself for having a renovation company over.

Start clearing the working space
The first thing you might want to do, if you already know the nature of the project in advance, is to clear the general area that is going to become the working site of furniture and any larger obstacles. You might be able to clear the smaller pieces of furniture, but if you need help in making sure that your sofa is going to be moved to another room and you can’t do it yourself, that renovation company you hired might want to help you out with that, for a fee. It would be best to make sure that all of your valuables, like documents or jewelry, are stored away. Plan ahead, take them to a safety deposit box in your bank, or, if you have a safe in your house, store them all away for the duration of the project. That is not to say that you should expect to be robbed by your contractors, but rather to make sure that none of your items get lost, damaged or misplaced during work.
