The native residents of America, the red Indians were a formidable civilization that lived on the land of modern day America for centuries. They were great warriors and were equally good at crafting goods and agriculture. They made use of a wide variety of tools that were made out of naturally found materials like stones, wood etc. The following are a few main materials that were used to make Native American tools.

- Horns were a prominent occurrence in a lot of ceremonial tools and even in some tools that were used for daily work and warfare. They were basically used for piercing something.
- Bones from various animals were crafted into blades and clubs that were used for various purposes during wars, daily routine and even ceremonial purposes.
- Stones of various varieties and specially flint were heavily used to make blades, spear, and arrow head along with hammers. These tools were mostly used for day to day tasks like hunting and wood gathering. There are also few records where they were used in warfare.
- Wood was another material that was heavily used for making the handles of tools. Native Americans made use of wood for making spears as well, which were used for fishing.
- Metals were one of the main materials for making tools that were used for a variety of purposes. It was heavily used in making blades for daggers and swords, along with making seal scratching claws that were used for the hunting of seals in some parts under Native Americans.
